Please don't laugh at this build. This is my inspired attempt of the RX-78-2 Real Type colors. It really seemed brilliant back then, I remembered fondly as I generously applied that Metallic Black Tamiya spray.
Now, it's an abomination, not even its mother would love it *cries*
*Wipes tears* So, let's review this RX-78-2 Gundam, G30th Version.
Alright, let's clear this up, in the 1/144 Gunpla scale, there's the HGUC version, this G30th version and the Real Grade version. Save your money and just go for the RG version.
The HGUC one lacks details and this one has a really silly face. It may be made to reflect the original Gundam animation, which IS NOT the kind of Gundam face you want. It's as if they squashed the head on purpose.
The RG has the best of everything so far. However, let's carry on with reviewing this kit.
For a kit that inspires gems such as O Gundam and AGE-1, the HGUC is not a great HG kit in comparison to the aforementioned. The articulation is good but not superb, the details are slightly clustered, especially the calf region and the parts don't feel as solid.
The equipment are amazing though, you get the lovely EFSF shield, the beam rifle and bazooka, some beam sabers and the best weapon, the GUNDAM HAMMER! It's shown earlier with my RG RX-78-2 but not in this post. I don't think this kit deserves to use that lovely weapon.
Other than that, if you're wondering if I'm a moron for applying the decals the way they are, I assure you that this was the EXACT recommended decal application as stated on the Gundam Decal EFSF 2. It's an old school design now that I looked at it.
With the criticisms out, I'll recommend the RG again and can only give the G30th version a 5.0/10. 1 whole point was given with regards to the amazing Gundam Hammer with metal chains.
